desert tour from Fes

Day 1 : Fez – Ifrane – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Arfoud – Merzouga

We will pick you up early in the morning (8 am) from your hotel in Fez to begin our exciting desert tour from Fes, which begins in the town of Ifrane. Ifrane is known as a winter sports resort and is often referred to as the ‘Switzerland of Morocco. We continue through the cedar forests of Azrou in the mountains, where we may stop in the hope of seeing wild macaques. After spending some time there, we continue our journey by car, which will take us to the town of Midelt. We then cross the Tizi-n-Tlgamt Pass before crossing the beautiful Ziz Gorge. After admiring the green scenery of the Atlas Plateau, the landscape gradually becomes more deserted and you’ll know we’re approaching the town of Errachidia. After passing through the desert towns of Erfoud and Rissani, we finally arrive at the town of Merzouga, where a warm desert-like welcome awaits us. We will then check into our hotel where we will spend the night.

Day 2: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi dunes – Tisrdmin oasis – Khamlia – Merzouga

Today of our desert tour from Fes is the official day to experience all the exciting activities in the desert, starting with a 4×4 drive through the Erg Chebbi dunes. Along the way you will see many black tents scattered haphazardly across the desert: these are the tents of Berber nomads who have chosen to live in the Sahara. We will stop at one of these families and have a cup of tea with them to learn more about their culture and way of life. Another group of indigenous people who have chosen to live in the Sahara is the Khamlia villagers, who we will be visiting shortly. You can listen to their spiritual music and enjoy their company before returning to the Kasbah Hotel for lunch (or we can have lunch in the village). After resting, we’ll take a camel ride across the majestic desert dunes at sunset before arriving at the desert camp where we’ll spend the night. At the camp, dinner will be accompanied by an entertainment program with Berber music and dancing. You will live an unforgettable desert tour from Fes with our professional team.

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Tinjdad – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate

This morning you will be woken up by your desert guide to watch the sunset over the desert dunes, a scene that can only be described as heavenly. You will then return to Merzouga on camels for a scenic ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes. We will have breakfast in a traditional riad in the town before leaving the desert for our next destination, Ouarzazate. On the way, we will first stop at the beautiful Todra Gorge, which is considered the highest and narrowest gorge in Morocco. We will have lunch and explore the beauty of the area before continuing on our desert tour from Fes to the Dades Valley. We will enjoy the rocky landscape and sandy castles scattered across the valley before setting off on the Thousand Kasbah Trail. This spectacular road owes its name to the fact that abandoned kasbahs and sandcastles are found everywhere, meaning we’ll have plenty of photo opportunities. We will then cross the beautiful Valley of Roses (we can stop at Kalaat Mguna village) and finally reach Ouarzazate cinema town.

Day 4: Ouarzazate – Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas – Marrakech

For the last day of our 4-day desert tour from Fes to Marrakech. We will travel to the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This is arguably the most important historical kasbah in Morocco. Pasha Glaoui, an important ruler of the region in the early 20th century, built this Kasbah. Today the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It serves as the setting for many international historical films. Finally, we drive through the High Atlas Mountains towards Marrakech. Enjoy the green and mountainous scenery.
