Day trip to Essaouira from Marrakech city

Spend a day with Moroccan Destinations and discover Essaouira from Marrakech. Also known as Mogador, Essaouira is a reminder of the times when Spain, Portugal, and England fought for control of the coast. It is a traditional port with magnificent examples of Moorish and Portuguese art. Essaouira is famous for its carpentry, but it is also home to Silbersuk (commercial district), art galleries, and islands. Essaouira was discovered by the Phoenicians who settled here.

What can I see and do in Essaouira? What to do?

Enjoy your day trip to Essaouira from Marrakech. It was later conquered by Rome and then by Portugal. At the end of the 15th century, the Portuguese built the commercial and military port of Mogador (now Essaouira). This port is situated at the foot of the city walls. In 1769, the navy built a gate to connect the docks to the city. From this gate, a small bridge leads to the port of Skala and the city walls, which divide the old city into several districts. In the medina, visit Moulay El Hassan Square, the Great Mosque, and Siagin Street. The North Bastion Terrace leads to a marquetry workshop where Morocco’s finest marquetry artists process cedar wood. Leave the Rock and follow Derb Laalouj Street to the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdallah Museum. The Pasha’s former residence displays musical instruments, Andalusian songs, Amazigh Berber documents, weapons, costumes, carpets, and more. In the north of the city, there is the Mellah. The Jewish quarter is crisscrossed by Mohammed Zerktouni Street and is surrounded by a market that stretches all the way to Bab Dukkala. During your stay, you can also enjoy the beautiful sunny beaches all year round. At the end of the day experience of Essaouira from Marrakech, you will be transferred to your riad.
